Artwork Description

Artist Bio

Claude Duse is an award winning artist, having recently received the distinguished 1st prize, Alfred Murphy Award at Frankston Art Centre in 2022.
Completed a TAFE diploma of Visual Arts in 2010, and had been painting for many years before this with time off for work and to raise a young family.

Currently based on the Mornington Peninsula, Australia, is known primarily for his amazing seascapes, landscapes and equally respected for his abstract/expressionist work and
engages with his subject matter in an intimate relationship, beautifully capturing his escape into his own wilderness of colour and emotion.

Claude has been working primarily in oils and describes his technique as "quick, bold, loose and organic…it just happens”.
He is also currently working with different and mixed media, and loving Acrylics, inks and now watercolour on paper.

He held a successful Solo exhibition â€śInto the Wilderness”, at Laneway Gallery St Kilda in 2017, with many paintings sold during the exhibition, which was supposed to only run over one week, however was extended for two weeks, due to popularity and the incredible response from the public.
The Gallery Manager said "it was the best exhibition he’d ever had."

Also, Claude is a former member of Contemporary Art Society Victoria, with a sale or two in that period.
He has entered many local Peninsula exhibitions/shows and also exhibited and sold at M/Peninsula local Community Art Gallery exhibitions.
He has received very positive feedback and Sales on BlueThumb Online Gallery and his personal Instagram page, where all his creations/art are listed for sale.
Also having attended many well known artists workshops and classes like David Chen and Dudley Drew, he has now a far greater understanding of expression, movement, colour, light and shade.
Claude has also painted commissions and is very intuitive when it comes to feeling the subject matter.

Claude Duse says:
“I love interpreting and painting nature, because it frees me up, giving me the ability to see beyond and be free in my creativity”…
As Oscar Wilde said, â€śNature is monochromatic. It is up to the artist to make it beautiful and to put colour into it.”
I put my own feel of life into my work, obeying my own expressionism and sense of self.  Some of my pieces have been bought for their contemporary appeal for (boardrooms) businesses."
