Seven Sisters - Kungkarangkalpa 23-1016KA (A)

The Seven Sisters story is an epic tjukurrpa story that travels for thousands of kilometers through Australia. The seven sisters
were being chased by one man through the lands, who wanted them all for his wives. A site to the south of Docker River is
where the sisters were chased into the sky and became the Pleiades constellaƟon. This site is a site of great significance
parƟcularly for the women of the region.

Claudia Derose is an emerging artist from Kaltukatjara (Docker River). Her family are significant traditional owners for the Kaltukatjara area and her mother, Barbara DeRose, is a cultural leader and keeper of the Kungka Kutjara songline. Claudia paints important Tjukurpa (Dreaming) from around the Docker River area, including Seven Sisters and Kungka Kutjara. Many other members of her family also paint in the art centre.
