The dawn of my art journey was over 25 years ago in school. Back then I expressed myself with water colours on paper using the conventional paintbrush to create works chasing after a realistic depiction of staged still life and nature. At the time I perceived the best art only to be the most accurate depiction of what I saw, not knowing that there was an array of art genres out there to explore.
The years never failed to pass by and soon life took over with work, family and responsibility. Even as life took over and I was doing my laps in the infamous rat race, art would always revive itself in some shape or form. The creative bug soon put a camera in my hand and I immersed myself in photography. I learnt and captured as much as I could using all the techniques I could muster and soon I learned how to work with light to create the frame I wanted rather than to point and shoot at what I could see.
Six years ago, I moved to Australia and while exploring the area where I lived, I came across a small art supplies store that had exhibited work from some of the local artists. Intrigued I went in and was instantly lost in this little world of abstract beauty. I was hooked reading about the artists and their pieces on display and soon found myself heading home with some art supplies and a canvas to kick off my art journey once again.
I now work primarily with acrylic as a medium in an abstract space, but with a wide creative range I occasionally revert to a hint of realism. As this journey has taken its course, I find myself working with more than just the conventional paint brush. It's been a while learning and working within this space and I'm proud to say that I took out my camera after six years to photograph some of my pieces that I believe are worthy to share.
