Artwork Description

Mixed Media on wood, ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

This artwork comes with an external frame

This series of small sculptures are assemblages of found items collected from walks in the desert country, along seashores and rivers and from charity shops and friends. I like the way these disparate bits and pieces, long forgotten when put together as a composition, move from being ordinary everyday objects to being beautiful and pleasing artwork. The artwork is based on a rectangle, usually of willow, and cane is then used to create the serpentining forms that give you the strong elements of negative and positive shapes. The artwork is in a sturdy temporary box frame and has strung wire in place for you to hang it and see how it fits into your space before you take it to a framer. To minimize possible damage during transit the glass in this artwork has been replaced with an acrylic transparent sheet that will protect the artwork and the piece is packed in to a robust shipping crate.

Absurd art that looks at the strange incidents that one encounters from time to time This artwork brings everyday, non – artwork objects together where they acquire strong, symbolic meanings within the context of the whole work. I like the way the pieces contribute to the composition yet still retain their original identity.

I feel that in some ways this sculptural technique of organizing into a unified whole a group of unrelated and often fragmentary or discarded objects is a powerful metaphor of how people from various cultures and walks of life can be bought together and live harmoniously as a whole.
