Artwork Description

Tori is a baby (at the time of drawing her) Squirrel Glider who makes her home at the Hidden Vale Wildlife Centre which is located in Spicers Hidden Vale retreat property near Grandchester. She is one of several Squirrel Gliders to be found there. They are a nocturnal gliding possum named because of their dense, bushy tail.
I had the honour of being able to meet Tori along with her family as my daughter works at the Centre. She is the most adorable creature and the biggest eyes. She was a dream to draw and I'm absolutely captivated by her and hope you will be too.

Artist Bio

For me, drawing is nurturing, empowering and a therapeutic escape from the daunting realities of life. From picking up the pencil as a young girl, to escaping into my art in the present, it has become wholeheartedly ingrained in me and part of who I am. I introduce myself as a Representational Artist. While the end result of my creating may seem like realism, it is in fact just a representation of what I have perceived as real.

I have gathered my skills from constant practice, engaging with other artists and experimenting with various techniques. Throughout the years I've discovered my love for the detail I can create using pencils, whether it's coloured, pastel, graphite or charcoal. Pencils allow me to take control of what emerges from my blank surface. Creating an animal or landscape that comes to life is mesmerising, I crave to see what textures, shadows, forms, lines and tones will merge together to create a life-like piece of art. I love hearing from my clients that my art has transported them into the eyes of the subject or they have found peace and happiness just by seeing the work on their wall.
