Art is “the transmission of feeling the artist has experienced” (Tolstoy). In this painting I have projected a feeling which I feel is universal, basal & intrinsic to our human experience, and in turn to my own experience. I look to colour as a means of exploring mood - using strong blues and yellows to heighten the emotional expression.
Mental health plays such a hugely significant part in our well being. Particularly in recent years of lockdowns and loss, I feel it’s an important subject to recognise and understand.
