Overlapping Universe

This work was created for an exhibition that focuses on the imagination and dreamscapes and our connection with reality. By taking my realist work and combining it with the stitch element that represents the dreamscape, I have been able to reconcile my need for perfection. I have used the rope as the main theme to display the idea although we are tired to reality we are as equally connected to our subconscious, which is shown through the somewhat random pattern through the sewn thread.

This work will come framed in a standard black frame with white mat board.

Corrina McLaughlin is an interdisciplinary artist, whose work is completed within the mediums of drawing, mixed media and painting. Her work focuses on the pressures of society within todays culture in regards to faith as a personal experience and the connection through our subconscious to our personal reality. She achieves this through the use of realism and elements of the surreal combined to express
Corrina has been practising in the visual arts for many years. She has completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts and an Honours in Creative Arts both through University of Southern Queensland. Corrina has also completed some study in theology to help further her ideas based around faith and what it means to be a practicing Christian within the turbulent culture of today.
Corrina’s long term goal is to become a full time practicing artist engaging actively within and also outside the art world, locally and interstate. Corrina will achieve this through continuing to evolve her personal style and practice, continuing to exhibit both locally in the Northern Rivers areas, and extending into Queensland.
