Artwork Description

This painting is a love letter to Venice — a city I miss often and deeply. I’m drawn to how its timeworn buildings glow under the warm afternoon sun, how faded facades and moss-covered walls meet the water with such quiet dignity. Venice feels like a dream set in reality — full of cinematic beauty, yet so tangible, so alive. I painted this moment to hold onto that feeling: the romance, the stillness, the gentle rhythm of life by the canals. It’s not just about what I saw, but what I felt being there.

Artist Bio

Corrine Rui Wen is a contemporary visual artist based in Brisbane, creating atmospheric, cinematic paintings shaped by light, memory, and emotion.
Her work explores quiet moments that feel like fragments of unfinished films—scenes suspended between reality and dream, where light becomes a storyteller and space holds its own emotional resonance.

Drawing from her background in film and visual composition, Corrine approaches each painting as a crafted moment of narrative. She works primarily in watercolor and acrylic, using softness, depth, and shifting luminosity to evoke intimate worlds. Architecture, sculpture, landscapes, and interior spaces appear in her work not as literal subjects, but as emotional environments—places that invite contemplation, nostalgia, and the quiet tension of unspoken stories.

Corrine’s artistic sensibility is strongly influenced by classical architecture, European cities, and the cinematic atmosphere of Italian film. Yet her interest lies not in depicting places as they are, but in how they feel—how a warm corridor, a distant horizon, or a window catching late light can stir memory and create connection.

Through her paintings, Corrine aims to offer viewers a sense of stillness and presence—moments where time slows and emotion becomes visible. Her paintings are held in private collections across Australia, with ongoing sales through curated online art platforms. She continues to develop new series that explore the interplay of light, silence, and inner experience.
