Courtney Ally is a Melbourne based actor and artist. Art has always been a large part of Courtney’s life but, like for so many, the pandemic turned her passion into a career. With new artworks created during the pandemic, her mentor encouraged her to put on her first show in Sydney and her passions for the artist life only grew. In her time away from working as an actor, Courtney creates large naive still-life pieces in a small corner of her Melbourne townhouse using acrylic on canvas. Courtney has also extended her art medium to digital form using Procreate in order to make her pieces more affordable. In her artworks, Courtney draws on the colours and shapes of ordinary things, translating them into abstract characters on the canvas. Her work has an imaginative and colourful quality, sprinkled with motifs of all things natural and edible. Her work juxtaposes the living against the non-living through vibrant and abstract expression. Her artworks show a snippet of life in full colour.
