Some Like It Pop

Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe remains one of the most popular cultural icons in history. I have showcased Marilyn in very vibrant colours and paid a lot of attention to making this portrait as flawless as possible. This is my first proper foray into the style of Pop Art and as such i regard this particular work as personally significant. One interesting detail is that her dress has been lovingly painted in gold metallic and can change colour in different light which adds to the overall effect of this painting. I have signed the painting within her hair to maximise the overall appearance of this work. I hope you enjoy owning this as much as i enjoyed painting it.

I am self-taught and specialise in painting large expressive portraits. My focus is on capturing the beauty and emotion of the subject and the way extremes of light, dark and colour compliment and play out on the facial features giving them life.I am constantly trying to evolve and refine my approach to work by experimenting with new methods and techniques. I like to create a balance in my paintings where the viewer can observe areas of very fine detail which I like to contrast with other areas on the canvas of very bold brush strokes . When creating a new painting I am always striving towards the end goal - to produce a painting that will elicit that slightly ecstatic moment from the viewer, that moment of elation and joy that occurs when seeing something pleasing for the first time.
