I finished this painting very early on a chilly Sunday morning.
My wife and kids were asleep upstairs, my dogs were asleep in the living room, I had the fireplace going, and had made myself the perfect cup of coffee which I enjoyed as I moved obsessively around this painting to get it just right.
I never really have a plan for what I'll paint and what the final outcome will be, but I can feel it when it's done.
Once I added the finishing touches, I cleaned up my paints and headed to the gym. About an hour later, my wife was obviously out of bed and had gone downstairs to make herself a cup of tea. She sent me a text simply saying, "I love it!" That's all I need to hear.
I love this work. I can stare at the colours, textures, and nuances endlessly as there is so much to explore in it. Personally, I think its relaxing blue tones make it ideal for a bedroom or reading nook. I love floating frames (please note I don't paint the sides of my work), so I would choose a white one for this piece.
