ARTIST’S STATEMENT
G’day they’re hunky Australian’s and a pat-on-the-back welcome to international friends. I am the artist Crakked Life, thank you for considering this rad’ all over art-show-stopper. As it brightens my studio rooms, I am certain your art space will become a talking point too. Thanks for providing a forever home to View through the Rain.
View through the Rain features a textured and layered canvas with purple, orange, blue, pink, green and metallic acrylics and inks.
Art painted on a windy, rainy and sunny day that brings the outdoors inside with gleaming colours seen through the condensation and droplets from my Melbourne studio window.
I have emphasized elements within my art in acrylic inks and aerosols. The colour palette is luminous, the chosen metallics adding further depth and radiance.
It is a great challenge to reveal art painted in styles and techniques not usually shared with my audience. A style found in the mid eighties as an artist’s assistant. There is an outcome that you cannot quite predict, like receipt of a surprise on a gift giving day.
I have been told that my art can be challenging and at times confronting to my viewers, but not View through the Rain. View through the Rain is said to remind Crakked Art Asylum (Crakked Life’s Art Gallery) gallery-goers of finger-racing the raindrops and window pane condensation on their bedroom window. “When [we] were told as children it was too wet to go out and play,” they said.
A world of colour within this world of colour can be found through this painting. The artwork is deliberate and intentional with enough room for the viewer to find their own connection to a life with colour.
Often my artworks challenge my own inner dilemma, inherently seen within the activist and political art I am known for. It wasn’t true here, the creation of this piece was delightful and whimsical. A welcomed break from my inner voices battling art that sells vs art that I use to communicate that which “the Man hides from view”.
This showpiece is now, it’s playful and art lovers will find their own connections following the patterned light and darks portrayed in View through the Rain.
Disclaimer: Typically original organic art doesn’t transfer to the digital art space with the depth, intensity nor hues, tones and shade seen when standing in front of the art, my art in the gallery or studio. There may be small and subtle differences in colour-if my hunky art lovers adore the digital image, you will fall in love with the Crakked Life art you take home.
