Artist Bio

Cristina Van Loon - Artist

Art has always been a passion since I was a young child. Though always a subject of great interest, life happened, and it hasn’t been until recently that I’ve picked up my art journey from where I left off.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts, Fashion Design (R.M.I.T.), and have been teaching kids art since 2011.
Whilst I still love sharing my knowledge in fun art lessons with young creatives, I am now pursuing my own freelance painting career, taking on commissions, and painting what I love.

There are many aspects about art that I find both inspiring and intriguing. If I had to define my art, however, it would be 'realism' - conveying the detail that I see in the world around me. I enjoy the challenge of observing colours, light and values conveying illusions through which we define and understand the physical world. Capturing these illusory effects in my paintings, I find both challenging and fascinating. My hope is to convey what I see, so that the viewer, perhaps, may share in the wonder and beauty of what can be seen in the mundane, the magnificent, and everything in between.

Working in a variety of high quality mediums, using gallery standard surfaces and frames, I hope my paintings communicate a sense of “wow!” and appreciation for our world of infinite inspiration !
