Artwork Description

Sea Breeze shows an old bench seat under an autumnal tree. The rolling hills arrive at the ocean with a sailing boat moving past in the distance. The scene is peaceful, the paddocks are freshly turned and new winter produce has begun to grow in rows. It whispers of hard days spent with dirty fingernails and sweat beaded brows. It celebrates the completion of meaingful work, and the gift to then be able to rest and gaze at the beautiful world unfolding below. The boat could be going anywhere, it is carried by the same breeze that caresses the farmers face. The artwork is textural and interesting with marks created with a variety of rich paints and oil pastels, and deep vibrant colour. This work uplifts us and reminds us that each day, however hard, has gifts for those open to receive them.

Artist Bio

Crystal Tate is an Australian visual artist whose work has been recognised for its emotional depth, confident use of colour, and strong sense of place.

She graduated with a High Distinction in Visual Art, with her work selected to tour as part of ARTEXPRESS 2003, one of New South Wales’ most competitive and prestigious exhibitions for emerging artists. The exhibited work was subsequently offered acquisition into the permanent collection of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, marking an early acknowledgement of the strength and collectability of her practice.

Since then, Crystal has held sell-out solo exhibitions, with her work consistently acquired by private collectors. She continues to exhibit in curated hospitality and public-facing spaces, recognising their role as contemporary galleries — environments where art is experienced repeatedly, lived with, and remembered.

In 2024, Crystal participated in a group exhibition at Sawtell Art Gallery, where the single work she entered sold within the first hour of opening, underscoring the strength of collector demand for her work.

Crystal’s work has also been recognised through selective professional collaboration. The founders of Designer Boys Art encountered her work while on holiday and subsequently extended a private invitation to consider licensing pieces for inclusion in their curated collection. From this invitation, Crystal chose a small number of works that now form the exclusive ‘Tidal Towns’ collection, available only through Designer Boys Art — affirming her work’s suitability for curated, design-oriented markets. Her designer profile can be viewed on the Designer Boys Art website.

Crystal’s practice centres on translating memory, landscape, and emotional experience into visually rich works that invite reflection and long-term connection. Her work is sought after by collectors drawn to colour-driven narratives and art that holds presence within both residential and commercial spaces. She is currently represented by ARTSPACE Gallery.

Alongside gallery exhibitions, Crystal maintains a direct relationship with her audience through select creative markets and exhibitions, offering collectors the opportunity to engage with the artist and the work firsthand.
