Documenting Reality

About this Curation

Documentary photography chronicles notable events and stories happening from around the world. It celebrates everyday life, and has been a catalyst for change throughout history. Many of the most iconic images from the 21st century are from this genre, such as the Napalm Girl. The most notable photographers of the 21st century, such as the founders of the Magnum Photos collective, had a strong passion for the power of documentary.

In this curation, we've rounded up our top picks of Bluethumb's documentary photographs. These images range from stories of everyday life to tales of the land we live in.

About the Curator

Megan is Bluethumb's Content Coordinator and handles all things photography related. The voice behind Bluethumb's social media and blogs, she is a core part of the curatorial team and leads the weekly newsletters. She holds photography dear to her heart, with a background as a freelance photographer herself.

Melbourne born and bred, her days at Bluethumb are filled with many coffees, cuddles from the resident canine companions and of course, spending more $ than is sensible on stunning art.
