Artwork Description

One of the most endangered cats on the planet, the Scottish Wildcat is a feisty small cat confined to a small habitat in the Cairngorms Scotland. Now critically endangered huge efforts are being made to save this incredible cat from extinction. When I was in Scotland I visited the Highland Wildlife Park, thrilled to be able to see these elusive cats up close. This encounter inspired the painting depicting one in its natural habitat with a major prey source, the rabbit.

Artist Bio

Sharing the beauty and wonder of nature through my paintings feels so necessary in a world undergoing profound change where animals are experiencing such pressure to survive. I like to challenge my abilities, to convey the magic of the natural world and my respect for it. My work is mostly a hybrid of abstraction and realism, often experimental, growing and changing with my explorations but always responding to my subject and what I want to say about it using a variety of media, paint and collage.
