Artwork Description

Male African Elephants have walked well trodden paths for millennia seeking out water food and breeding herds. One of the largest animals on earth they have little to fear except predation by humans for their magnificent ivory tusks. Populations including the great tuskers have been drastically reduced in the past century making them an endangered animal. Cape Hunting dogs are also listed as endangered. I wanted to paint these two iconic species together as they often encounter each other in the wild. A large statement piece with a definite African theme.

Artist Bio

Sharing the beauty and wonder of nature through my paintings feels so necessary in a world undergoing profound change where animals are experiencing such pressure to survive. I like to challenge my abilities, to convey the magic of the natural world and my respect for it. My work is mostly a hybrid of abstraction and realism, often experimental, growing and changing with my explorations but always responding to my subject and what I want to say about it using a variety of media, paint and collage.
