I am a self-taught artist who draws her inspiration from the cells. I have lived and worked in many countries (Australia, Syria, Lebanon, UK, Turkey and Papua New Guinea) and have just returned from Beirut after spending 10 years there.
I created the Dalalism concept and program to highlight the fact that our thoughts affect our cells and in turn our wellbeing. I have been invited as a guest speaker to share my ideas and experiences with university students, youth, refugees, women groups and people with special needs.
My artwork is a way to invite the viewer to look within and acknowledge a beautiful "inner universe" so I use the terms "How are your cells" and "Look after your cells" when I greet people.
I also believe that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience and once we embrace this concept, our outlook on life changes dramatically.
Painting is a form of meditation to me. It has helped me in many ways after the loss of my youngest daughter at the age 23.
I often start with an idea and hardly with a sketch and I let the brush move freely over the canvas to communicate my emotions and ideas.
My artwork has been exhibited (solo and group exhibitions) in Sydney, Beirut, Damascus, Dubai, Paris and New York.
I am often told that my artwork is a good conversation starter and that it evokes emotions.
I hope my paintings will get you to acknowledge our hard working cells !
