Artwork Description

Landscape set in Noosa hinterland with Mount Cooroy and surrounding countryside. This painting was inspired by David Hockney's landscapes and the natural beauty of this area. This was part of my Road Across the Range show which opened at Pomona Railway Station Gallery. Through this series of paintings I was commissioned to create 10 landscape paintings for the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Artist Bio

Dale Leach is an Artist, Illustrator and Teacher who moved from Darwin to the Sunshine Coast in 2000. She left teaching in 2005 and bought a small mobile food business, and had her first solo show at Martin Galleries in 2010. Weird, Wild and Wonderful, presented a quirky collection of animal and landscape paintings and prints. In 2011, To Caress A Tiger opened at the Noosa Regional Gallery, the title was inspired by a quote from Victor Hugo who said "God made the cat, to give man the pleasure of caressing a tiger." In 2014 Road Across the Range was launched and was inspired by the beauty and changing colours of the local hinterland. It was from that series of paintings that Dale was commissioned to paint ten pictures for the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital. In 2018 Dale was commissioned to create a mixed media work for the Sunshine Coast Regional Council commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the naming of the Sunshine Coast.. This work is now held in the Council's Art Collection.

I draw my inspiration from many sources including my surroundings, my photographs, Pop Art, cartoons, and David Hockney's landscapes.
