Artwork Description

I am struck with awe when I witness the landscape’s raw, unyieldinge beauty. This painting is a way of bowing low before it. A way of acknowledging that the ground we stand on—though dusty, dry, and cracked—is still holy.

Through gestural marks, layered paint, and abstract forms, I hope to evoke not just a scene, but a sensation—that moment when something inside you quiets and you know, without knowing how, that you are not alone.

Artist Bio

Dale Pattenden, with a robust foundation in Contemporary Fine Arts and more than 20 years in creative industries worldwide, masterfully employs painting as his primary medium. His layered technique merges fluid, gestural marks with meditative colour fields, balancing control and spontaneity, and invites viewers to contemplate psychological terrain. Through vast abstract landscapes and evocative spiritscapes, he channels the universal journey toward light and vulnerability, awakening a sense of quiet introspection and the courageous leap of childlike faith, allowing each person to uncover their own meaning amid silence and possibility.

A note from the Artist;

“Life moves quickly.

Between work, responsibilities and constant noise, it’s easy to feel disconnected from yourself, your surroundings and the things that matter most.

I understand that feeling.

My journey into art began with curiosity and experimentation; for example, I remember being more interested in drawing the classroom plants than listening to the lesson. I was constantly being told to pay attention; but looking back, I realise I was paying attention, just in a different way. I was, indeed, observing the world closely, questioning how things worked and exploring new ways to see everyday objects and experiences.

Over time, that curiosity became a practice of transformation: turning emotion, memory and reflection into abstract landscapes of colour and movement.

My work offers a simple invitation:
To Pause
To Reflect
To Reconnect

If a painting speaks to you, trust that instinct.
That connection is where the story begins.
When a painting resonates with you, it becomes more than decoration. It becomes part of your daily environment; a quiet reminder to slow down, notice the present moment and stay connected to what matters most.”
