Dalin is an emerging Sydney artist that specialises in subtle minimalist designs. Currently creating from her home studio in Rosebery, Sydney.
Her artistic practice is intuitive and self-taught, although her earliest recollections of painting and drawing are from childhood.
Keenly interested in minimalist interior design, Dalin’s vision is to create bespoke pieces for spaces that inspire and allow for quiet reflection. It's within these spaces we find clarity for living more kindly, simply and mindfully.
She is often inspired by nature, delicate textures and subtle tones found in everyday life. Her first collection, ‘Fallen Petals’, was painted during a challenging time with lockdown restrictions in her home town of Sydney. This series embraces the warmth on one's face and fallen petals along the footpath as you embark on your daily walk to get some fresh air and sunlight, something we all take for granted.
The concept of land, home and inclusiveness is very important to Dalin. For most of her life she searched to understand a sense of identity or belonging, and a big part of her body of work is to convey a sense of home, unity and family.
Painting brings Dalin stillness where the unknown takes place. She loves being in the moment so that my artwork can embody a sense of wonder, beauty and calmness.
Her paintings often depict abstract expressions, neutral undertones and natural hues with deep textural layers grounded in the delicate use of colour and mix media.
Dalin utilises layer upon layer of acrylic, a mix of matt and gloss gel mediums, modelling paste, ceramic stucco, blended fibre and fine sand textures to create her pieces. Each painting is a bespoke piece of artwork perfect on its own or as a pair.
As you gaze upon each artwork, transfixed in its textures, remember to be thankful for the present and let go of things you can’t control.
