Artwork Description

This artwork was inspired by the The Capuchin Crypt, located beneath the Church of Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini in Rome, is a unique and somber site that houses the skeletal remains of approximately 3,700 Capuchin friars, arranged in intricate and artistic displays. As you enter the crypt, there is a saying that reads "What you are, we once were. What we are, you will be."
So true, we live and then we die. This is an artwork about living.

Artist Bio

Damian Bisogni is an Australian artist who has exhibited both nationally and internationally for the past 30 years.
Damian’s work combines aspects of history, personal experiences, stories, songs, movies, popular contemporary culture and everyday life. He blends abstract and semi-representational imagery to create his whimsical, child-like works on solid fields of colours, greys and off whites.
His uses his art to express observations, composition and problem solving, building layers of medium upon another and then scratching (sgraffito) back into the surface to expose lyrical abstract imagery.

Please note that all my Paintings and Drawings are sold archival framed in Tasmanian Oak (with non reflective glass for Drawings). There is a slight delay for framing. Examples of frames can be found in my image listings. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information regarding this.
