Dane's work reflects on a few things. Some of those thing's are nature. Some the imagined. Some the experienced. Abstracted and the fanciful. Line work is pivotal to the mark making and the imagination of escaping the present is paramount to the art work created.
A colourful and complex weaving of plants, shapes and at times creatures makes up Dane's work. Playful, intricate and oddly shaped plant's that could be familiar from the Tasmanian landscape appear on flat liney surfaces. There are mixed influences at play here, from Dane's ancestral mixed background of Scottish and Tasmanian Aboriginal through to quirky character creating and medium influences from studying printmaking at UTAS.
