Artwork Description

This artwork was painted by Daniel McCulloch in 2023.

"The Rip", also known as "The Heads", is the narrow waterway entrance connecting the Bass Strait to the bay of Port Phillip in southern Victoria, Australia, and is the only route of maritime transport into Port Phillip and thus seaport access into Melbourne and Geelong, Victoria's two largest cities.

This painting is an abstract representation of Port Phillip Heads by the Artist.

This painting has been completed on an unstretched canvas and WILL require framing. I have included a number of images of the work (framed) for illustration purposes, however, framing will be the responsibility of the purchaser. There is no less that 10cm spare canvas on each side so this artwork could be stretched and hung in a floating frame, or framed behind a mat and glass. My recommendation for the piece would be aluminum frame with a white mat and glass for protection.

Artist Bio

I'm a contemporary painter specialising in medium to large format abstract artwork. I use a variety of mediums to create abstract compositions that reflect the beauty and complexity of life. My paintings are characterized by hard lines, bold blocks of saturated colour, and intricate geometric compositions. Paintings often feature overlapping geometric shapes, circles, and lines that create an interplay of light and shadow. I strive to express the tension between the seemingly mundane and the extraordinary, creating works of art that challenge viewers to look beyond the surface and find hidden meaning and insight. My goal is to create artwork that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
