The work is based on a personal recollection of arriving in Amsterdam in the early 2000s, dragging a battered suitcase through a vast snow-covered square. When the suitcase wheel broke, it marked the loss of something trivial but the beginning of something enduring — the deep friendship of a companion who helped that day and remained a cherished part of life for decades.
Through its muted palette and atmospheric brushwork, the painting transforms a simple travel memory into a meditation on connection, transience, and the beauty that can be found in small, shared moments amid life’s weather.
It's oil on canvas, painted 2025.
