Artwork Description

This piece is part of a series inspired by my personal bottle collection - objects I’ve gathered over time for their subtle beauty and the way light dances through their translucent forms. This particular piece has a white lilium from my garden in it - bringing together two of my passions - painting and gardening. After five years of studying still life painting, I’ve become especially interested in how everyday objects can express connection. This work invites the viewer to pause and fall in love with the deep passionate reds, and how they support and bring out the glimmering white of the lily.
Painted in oil on canvas, the piece was built up slowly in layers to capture the depth and glow of glass. The deep red colours are intended to bring a moment of delight into the home - something beautiful within the everyday. It would feel at home in a kitchen, against a wall in a walkway, or above a desk. I think people who love red will love this painting - you know who you are!

Artist Bio

Hi! I'm an oil painter, and I'm based in Coffs Harbour Australia.

I love painting still life, people and the natural world. My influences change per series, but in general I love the modernists and modern Australian female still life artists in particular. My training was grounded in the discipline of still life and it's probably my enduring love, but I explore other genres regularly.

I loosely group artworks into thematic series. I have exhibited in various galleries across Australia.

The grand concepts I explore across all my series are about joy, and the lovely ephemeral beauty of our lives.
