Artwork Description

Oil on stretched canvas.

Signed certificate of authenticity.

Inspired by the stunning colors of New Zealand. This painting was inspired by memories of dipping in the clear water lakes of New Zealand. As the warm sun dries you off after a very crisp dip, you have a sense of never wanting to leave and go back to normal life. This artwork is one of three. The other paintings included in this series are named "Road to Tomorrow" and "Road to Yesterday".

Unframed oil on Canvas, applied with a palette knife.

Artist Bio

Painting has always brought me calm. As a child I would draw, paint or craft anything I could lay my hands on, and I was fortunate to win a few art competitions, which kept that desire alive. Although technically "self taught", any skills I have, have really been the product of the many countless hours others have shared their skill with me either through kindness or through courses online and in person.

In recent years, after grieving the loss of both my parents and two brothers, I resumed painting to soothe my mind. In doing so, I reignited my childhood passion. Much like Music that allows me to reach deep inside, painting helps me to express how I feel, whether joy, sorrow, happiness or pain. I paint regularly and find delight in dramatic skies, vibrant colours, textures and movement. My paintings reflect how I feel in that moment, so each painting means something to me personally.

I love solitude and tranquility, and often try and reflect that in my paintings. I grew up in a small rural town, but I have since lived in several large cities and even moved countries. Today, I live on the Gold Coast with my husband and 3 children. Though I love the bustle of cities, I'm really a country girl at heart, so my inspiration comes mainly from the beautiful beaches and countryside of the places I have lived in.
