Artwork Description

Whimsical, childlike Aussie koala, created 2018. She wears a tutu over her pink and purple belly, proudly professing her "one of a kind" individuality. In one hand she holds a gumnut mandala dreamcatcher and in the other an eucalyptus branch with tiny flowering gum nuts. She is blessing the forest and wood lands and fellow Australian creatures. My favourite little koala, I am sharing her here to raise awareness of our native creatures.
Note: She was first inspired by a Tamara Laporte (willowing.org) "quirky bird" animal design.

Artist Bio

Aussie Art Dabbler. Passionate Mandala maker. Whimsical people painter. Inspired by Our World, Nature, Animals, Geometry, Colours, Shapes, Patterns, Heart Art and Joyfulness.
I am a self-taught artist residing in Adelaide, South Australia.
Making art and mandalas is my passion and I have been creating these since 1998. The word mandala in the ancient Sanskrit language means healing circle. Today, mandala also refers to symbols, sacred shapes, geometric shapes, circle art and doodles. I am fascinated with details and this transpires in my mandalas.
I have also been drawn to painting whimsical faces, people and animals. My love of nature, animals and our beautiful world can be seen in my art.
I like different media and often create on a whim, or inspired by photos that I take and those take by my son. I see colour and shape emerge in the paint, textures or detail from collage and follow intuitively until complete. Aspects of poetry or lyrics can emerge as I am lulled along by music in the background. I am joyful when working with bright colour, feeling that colour has individual emotions and interpretations and this influences my art.
I hope it also creates elements of connection with my viewer.
