Artwork Description

Seaweed, or macroalgae, refers to thousands of species of macroscopic, multicellular, marine algae. All these different species play a vital role in capturing carbon, producing at least 50% of Earth's oxygen. They are so important, and yet because most of it is unseen, hidden beneath the depths of our earthly bodies of water… we miss an important link in the ecological chain, that needs our awareness and protection.

Artist Bio

Danyal de Gruchy, a self-taught mixed media artist based in Camden, NSW, Australia, combines various mark-making and collage techniques to create layered, detailed artworks. Her art serves as a testament to the profound beauty of existence and invites others to experience its boundless wonder.
