Artwork Description

The first idea for Sunset Symphony was born during a visit to Egypt. It was another trip to the sea, ending in the evening, which ended with one of the most colourful sunsets of my visit. Of course, the colours of the sunsets were much more natural, but I wanted to convey the atmosphere of hot and at the same time energising Egypt. The abstraction technique helped me in this. The use of two almost opposite colours - gold and dark blue - emphasises some of the contradictory nature of Egypt. To create more natural, somewhat sharp forms, I used a mastichin - no special technique was used, I left it to my intuition to create. The painting contains two layers - the very first of which I found insufficiently vivid, which is why I returned to the painting after a month of reflection. The original version contained more natural and calm colours, it lacked dynamics. Dynamics is what is required when describing Egypt. This is what Sunset Symphony reflects.
