Artwork Description

It all started on a small jetty in Sandy Bay, Hobart. It was evening and therefore most of the boats had returned from sailing. They were all resting in the doldrums, only swaying slightly. The sunset was splendidly peaceful, a little hot; it was summer. I remembered - somewhere I had felt it before.... It was a painting that I had seen quite by chance, a painting by an artist unknown to me. These two motives made me want to paint this painting - the moment of its birth. The abstract style helped to convey a peacefulness, a certain relaxedness and a departure from the laws of the classics, while the play of colours, which are opposite to each other according to colour theory, helps to convey the idea that the ocean is a very ambiguous and complex structure that brings both calmness and storms.

Artist Bio

Born in a mountainous region, my background is rooted in the sciences, particularly physics and mathematics. My early career focused on research and exploration. As a self-taught artist, I have studied art history and techniques independently, integrating scientific precision with artistic freedom.

My work spans classical and abstract styles, reflecting the complexities of both nature and society. Each piece is a synthesis of my scientific background and artistic vision, offering a layered narrative for viewers to explore.
