In Flight

The flight of the kookaburra stirs up a whirlwind of leaves and dust when she takes off. This kookaburra is represented in the traditional Wiradjuri design which my ancestors have used for thousands of years. Every language group has unique and different designs which they use in their art, and Wiradjuri people use lines.

I am a Wiradjuri artist from the Wellington area of NSW. My work is Aboriginal contemporary with an emphasis on the use of color to convey my cultural connection and my life experiences.
My art is deeply rooted in my experiences as a Wiradjuri man, a father, a son and a member of the urban Aboriginal community of Sydney’s inner west. Within the urban context, I prefer to produce pieces which reflect my environment. I use recycled materials which come from an urban environment in my art. This is based on the Aboriginal tradition of only using what you need from your environment.
In March 2018, I had the honor of being made a member of Boomalli Aboriginal Art Co-op.
