Wiradjuri called a small grey kangaroo a wambine, this was a preferred catch as the meat was tender and sweeter than older kangaroo meat. A Warrior if was skillful in hunting, he was able to separate a wambine from the kangaroo pack. The Wiradjuri also burnt holding pens in thick bush woodland to attract grazing kangaroo packs, the kangaroos grazing in those makeshift paddocks would be attacked from on sides forcing the kangaroos to flee in the thick hedge bush. This would make it easier for warriors to spear or clubs the trapped Kangaroos surrounded by the bush hedge.
