Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

Painted 12 years ago during art school, this artwork the single surviving work of a series that explored connection to place through romance, nostalgia and the glorification of landscape and how these ideas are grounded and muted, at constant odds with memory and the rational mind.

This work is the surviving canvas of a triptych depicting the wild country of the Waterfall Valley, which connects Tasmania's famous Cradle Mountain to its sister peak Barn Bluff.

A patchwork of fiery colours have been painted with palette knife to create this sweeping abstract scene."Wild Sundials" is an abstract odyssey, a canvas where the soulful essence of Lupinus Perennis unfolds in amorphous shapes and hues. A whale shark swims gracefully through a world of kaleidoscopic bubbles. Layers of yellow watery paint has been layered and left to the elements creating a magical abstract landscape.
