Tennis Anyone?

This painting reflects my love for the game of tennis as well as the abstract quality of the colour field of the tennis court. I also enjoyed capturing the pose of the tennis player against the strong blue background.

I have been painting my environment for over 20 years and have exhibited many times with galleries over Australia. My focus is on capturing the reality of my immediate environment in the suburbs of Melbourne and sometimes in the coastal environment while travelling. I paint predominantly in watercolour and I feel like I have innovated a unique style within this medium. My aim when painting is to bring out the abstract qualities of the picture even though I work as a realist painter. For me, the paint must do the talking and I try to avoid over working my scenes with too much embellishment. As a painter I like to examine our modern world, it's humour, it's banality and it's wonder.
