Artist Bio

I’m a lens-based artist living in Hobart, Tasmania. I’ve been fascinated by cameras since I picked up a Super 8 at fourteen. I immediately fell in love with the act of making images and short films. Straight out of school I found a career in film and television, and for over thirty-five years I worked professionally on many television and film projects. I loved every aspect of the craft, be it camera, sound or editing.

Then, as the world got busier and I got older, I remembered the profound beauty in stopping and looking. I returned to art school and began making still images again, but found the questions they raised couldn’t be contained in a single captured moment. My practice has since moved into installation and sculptural light work: building objects that layer transparent photographic images, set them in motion, and ask what happens when memory, light and material meet. I am currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Tasmania.

I have exhibited widely in Tasmania including as a finalist in the Henry Jones Art Prize in 2023 and 2024, and my work continues to evolve in the space between what a camera records and what only a human being can feel.
