Artwork Description

A wide landscape painting depicts a powerful ocean wave.

The wave, a vibrant mix of blues and greens, is in the process of breaking, with a significant section of foamy white and light gray water erupting at the crest.

The wave’s form is complex and dynamic, with various sections of the wave’s face showing different stages of the breaking process.  The water around the wave shows the turbulence of the ocean, with white and light gray froth and bubbles scattered across the surface and interspersed with darker blues and greens. The sky above the wave is a pale, clear blue.

The overall impression is one of raw ocean power and beauty in motion, with a focus on the texture and detail of the breaking wave.
