Repositions

The abstract expressionist painting is heavily textured, built up of multiple layers, with thick lumps, drips, lines and spaces. The sides of the canvas are painted and the painting (and sides) is sealed beneath a glossy varnish.

NOTE: This artwork can be hung without an external frame (painting continues over the edges which are 4cm deep.) In situ photographs that might include a frame are for illustrative purposes only. My paintings are often expressed as simple and balanced compositions. I often use bold blocks of colour and outlines to anchor my designs that (I hope) are sometimes spiritual, fantastical and in the tradition of modern and humanist art. As I develop my paintings, I focus on effect and mood.

My ideas and how I apply them to the canvases are seldom subtle and my intention is for the artworks to be striking and distinctive. I explore emotion and expression through colour and shape. I often use bold blocks of colour and outlines to anchor my designs that (I hope) are sometimes spiritual, fantastical, political, and in the tradition of modern and humanist art. As I develop my paintings, I focus on an idea, an effect, and a mood. I enjoy painting in different styles and my works range from abstract to abstract figurative, pop art to expressionism, in addition to impressionist works.
