The series was created while living in a regional town in New South Wales, Australia.
In small towns, after a while, certain places emit a mysterious, other-worldly feeling like an unforeseen event happened there. It is more probable that a certain light or frame of mind makes–I like to refer to them as– termination points appear, but once you create an image, these rare and peculiar landscapes never look the same again, no matter how many times you revisit the scene.

Dean’s photography spans over 30 years in the areas of commercial, art and video.
His work has been shown at major international art festivals and galleries including the Zagreb Biennale and the George Pompidou Centre, Paris. He has been selected as a finalist for numerous art awards including the National Portrait Prize and the Bowness Prize. Image United, his current practice, is positioned between portrait and art photography and most often with a social awareness element that has been recognised for bringing an “iconic realism” to the image “combining the vision of art and tradition of documentary photography to define a distinct style”.
