This acrylic painting on wooden board features a submarine out in scary weather. It's a tribute to veterans and those who serve Australia's interest. It is said that art imitates life, well then life has scary moments.
Dean picked up the paint brushes during covid lockdown for the first time in a few years and hasn't looked back. It's been a steep learning curve. He considers painting to be like a voice for his creativity and imagination. A colourful language. Non representational art is his "go to". He says by doing Abstract painting and intuitive art he experiences a sense of freedom and calmness that keeps him motivated to continue on his journey as an artist. Painting has provided him a voice for his creativity like a way to communicate his surreal and cerebral experiences with schizophrenia which began to afflict him when he was 19. His work reflects his journey into dark and otherworldly places thoughthey are spiked with hope and fortitude.
