This painting is the first in a new series of work I began in January 2021. I began to think of creating paintings that (as Leger once said) “…apply the laws of artistic contrasts”. So, color, line and “opposing values of flat surface against modeled surfaces” became key elements in bringing about more structure and order to my work.
