This painting was inspired by a visit I made to the island of Santorini, which is famous for its sunsets. People gather at the end of the island to view the sun dipping below the waters of the southern Aegean Sea. The atmosphere was quite hazy. The sun, having dipped below the horizon, provided its last hoorah with its rays reflecting from the hazy atmosphere.

To capture this event, I used acrylic and spray techniques on canvas. The line near the bottom of the painting provides additional interest as a contrast against the soft glow of the sunset.
