This painting was inspired by the contemporary architecture of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore. I was particularly interested in its geometric form. Looking up from below, I captured a close-up view of one of the vertical forms directly underneath the curved boat shaped form. What intrigued me about the boat-like structure, was not only its curved shape, but its structural ribbing. I used spray techniques to apply an acrylic underpainting. This was followed by masking over the underpainting and applying further transparent coats of acrylic. I decided to use orange-yellow colours merging down to deep blue-purple to maximize the depth of the geometric abstract forms.
