Artwork Description

"Back to Uluru" is part of my Australian Outback Collection.
The Australia outback gives me so much inspiration. Uluru is breathtakingly striking against our bright red deserts and big blue skies in Australia.
Uluru, or Ayers Rock, is a massive sandstone monolith in the heart of the Northern Territory’s arid "Red Centre". The nearest large town is Alice Springs, 450km away.
Uluru is sacred to indigenous Australians and is thought to have started forming around 550 million years ago. It’s within Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

Artist Bio

Contemporary Coastal & Australian Abstract Artist
Deb Chorlton is a Sunshine Coast artist whose work explores the colours, textures and atmosphere of the Australian coastline and landscape through contemporary abstract painting. Working primarily in acrylics and palette knife techniques, she creates richly textured artworks inspired by the meeting of land, sea and light.

Art has been a constant thread throughout Deb's life. She spent countless hours sketching and drawing during her school years before beginning a career in graphic design in the days of traditional cut-and-paste artwork.

Life then took her in many directions. She married, raised two daughters, ran a family business and worked within the beauty industry. Like many creative people, the demands of life gradually pushed art into the background.

Over time, however, a persistent desire to create became impossible to ignore. Following a period of burnout and personal reflection, Deb made the decision to reconnect with the part of herself she had set aside for many years.

Since returning to art, she has immersed herself in ongoing study, exploring colour theory, composition, abstraction and painting techniques while developing her own distinctive visual language.

Today Deb creates from her light-filled studio on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, producing artworks that reflect her love of colour, texture and the natural beauty of Australia.
