Artwork Description

"Prussian Sea Sienna Sands III" continues my exploration of the Australian coastline, where changing light transforms the ocean throughout the day.

Inspired by the dramatic reflections of a stormy sea, layers of rich Prussian blues, warm sienna sands and textured acrylic create movement, depth and atmosphere. Rather than depicting a literal seascape, I wanted to capture that fleeting moment when sunlight breaks through heavy clouds and the colours of the water become unexpectedly vibrant.

Created with professional acrylics using palette knives and layered texture, this original painting invites viewers to discover new details from every angle.

Signed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Artist Bio

Contemporary Coastal & Australian Abstract Artist.
Colour, texture and the raw beauty of Australia are at the heart of Deb Chorlton's work. Painting from her light-filled studio on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, Deb creates richly layered abstracts that capture the atmosphere of the Australian coastline, landscape and outback — from the meeting of land and sea to the ancient stillness of Uluru.

Working primarily in acrylics with palette knife techniques, Deb builds up texture and depth to create works that feel alive with movement and light. Her pieces are designed to bring warmth, colour and a sense of place into the spaces they inhabit.

Art has been a constant thread throughout Deb's life — from childhood sketching to a career in graphic design. Like many creatives, the demands of raising a family and running a business gradually pushed painting into the background. But the desire to create proved impossible to ignore. Following a period of burnout and personal reflection, she returned to the work that had always called her — and hasn't looked back since.
