It's that time of the year again where I like to illustrate something different to my usual genre. Last year, I painted WW1 soldiers that resonated with the wider community so this year, what better than to paint an Australian soldier from the war in Afghanistan. The Rising Sun dawns upon the soldier's day as he reflects on what may come.
My painting has minimal lines and colour yet the emphasis is still there to respect the scene.
This picture is loosely based on a defence book I have at home on the war in Afghanistan so with that in mind, I will donate money from the sale to Legacy.
