I am a contemporary Australian artist from WA. I have lived in almost every state of Australia and have made Walpole home since 2004. Have been painting off and on most of my life. Over the years I have completed many various courses and study in art, drawing and painting. More knowledge and experience were gained with tutoring from a few established artists from Perth WA. Developing my own style, I now have the privilege to paint full time from my home studio. Painting has always been my passion and has now become a big part of my life. I have participated in many exhibitions over the years and have sold my work privately and via eBay to clients throughout Australia and overseas.
I have participated in the following local art exhibitions: the Walpole Wilderness, The Peaceful Bay Dreams of The Bay and the Southern Art and Craft Trail.
INSPIRATION is taken from personal experiences, places I have visited and the environment around me. Mother Nature has so much to offer. I frequently find the simple things around me trigger my imagination to start the paint flowing. I am always taking photos that provide me with an endless source of material to work with. Captured images, mixed with my wild imagination and sense of humour, allows me to create my stories on the canvas. All my paintings are โoriginalsโ as they come from my imagination and interpretation of my photos.
FAVORITE SUBJECTS My subject matter varies from dry outback scenes, southern forests, seascapes with moody skies and powerful oceans, vibrant abstract flowers to sea inhabitants.
IN THE STUDIO Painting is my passion and I love creating new stories onto the blank canvas or paper. I use a combination of techniques, not always traditional, in my work. I have worked with all mediums, but I have my favourites. I love using acrylics & watercolours. Sometimes I love adding penwork to some paintings as I feel it enhances them, brings them to life and makes them pop. I combine paint with flow mediums and use the pouring technique with heat to create many patterns and colours onto the canvas. Some paintings can be multi-layered with different mediums. Using an experimental approach, I continually push my boundaries, playfully exploring with different mediums and materials to form and build up the textures, look, and feel that I am chasing. I enjoy working with compound mediums as they enhance the colours and textures beautifully. I love to mix mediums and watch them interact, merge or even explode together in a surprising, good way. Some work will have objects embedded in the painting using compound mediums. This method creates a 3D look and feel. Contrasting colours and texture building are important to me. I like to use vibrant and bright colours and strive to keep my work powerful and fresh. I hope you enjoy my paintings, as much as I have enjoyed in creating them. Will keep experimenting with various mediums, techniques, and materials to further my development.
I appreciate your interest in my work. Any questions are welcomed.
