My early years were spent in East Gippsland, Victoria, surrounded by the snowy mountains, lakes and waterways. The majesty and unpredictability of nature greatly informs my work, as does the brightness and glitz of city life. Both worlds inspire and direct my creative drive, merging memory and influence into the tangible expression of art.
I use multiple layers and glazes in my practice, carefully creating a luminous atmosphere that focuses on light and contrast. Working with oils allows a certain freedom and discovery which is essential to the journey of each painting.
My work is constantly evolving but always reflects some nascent obsession, be it blurring of lights or the poetry of cloud formations and brewing storms. The thread that runs through all of my work is movement and the desire to spark a kind of awe witnessed by children and dreamers.
