Artwork Description

Astroboy delves into the poignant theme of displacement and emotional contrast. In this painting, a down cast looking Astronaut, stands against the backdrop of a Banksy-style graffiti wall. Despite the vibrant and colorful nature of the wall, the astronaut's demeanour suggests a sense of sadness and feeling out of place.

The juxtaposition of the astronaut's somber expression with the vibrant red balloon creates a powerful visual contrast. The red balloon symbolizes hope, dreams, and resilience amidst adversity. It serves as a beacon of optimism and possibility, even in the face sadness and uncertainty.

Through this artwork, I aim to evoke empathy and introspection in viewers, inviting them to contemplate the complexities of l displacement and the resilience found in unexpected places

Artist Bio

Welcome. Here’s some information about me. I embarked on my creative journey back in 2010. I was mentored and established my unique visual language under the guidance of the esteemed tutor, Jan Stephens.

My passion lies in the world of paint, where I find boundless energy and flexibility to express myself. Working with acrylics, spray paint, and mixed media provides me with the versatility and immediacy I crave.

As a Thalassophile - someone deeply attracted to the ocean - my ocean-inspired pieces reflect a harmonious fusion of nature’s beauty and the ever-changing emotions from stormy melancholy to sparkling hope.

Abstract impasto work with vibrant colors and thick textured paint has become a newer passion of mine. Delving into the intricate textures and profound depths of impasto allows me to express my energetic and positive nature. Abstract applications of paint infuse my work with movement, optimism, and joy. I hope this energy resonates of the canvas and lights up the room.

Nothing is more satisfying than seeing my pieces connect with someone and find their forever home on the walls of a household.
I take pride in having exhibited my work in two distinguished venues, Tutukaka Coast and Reyburn House Gallery in New Zealand. My canvases are held in private collections across Australasia.
