Artwork Description

I created this painting on a W91cm by H60cm canvas using qualitiy acrylic painting applied with pallet knives and paint brushes, just prior to Queenslands big wet. I wished to convey the great need for rain around our Ramsar sites, as the drought was having a big impact on our Wetlands. I used Carbon black, mixed with white, grey, yellow, orange, red, gold and raw umber brown acrylic paint, and is finished with a gloss and ready to hang..
One day I was walking along a board walk exploring some Wetlands prior to the big wet and was overcome by the urge to go into my studio and paint the dryness of our Wetlands, just prior to the rain.

Artist Bio

Deb Murphy is a Brisbane based contemporary abstract artist, who has been a member of a Brisbane based Art Society.

I love working in different mediums and techniques on canvas, painting in an intuitive contemporary abstract style, with a balanced and rhythmic flow.
When I am painting and in the moment, I run on raw instinctive energy, to convey my true passion for colour and life. I am constantly drawing on influences from my past world travels and experiences. My art studio is like a creative vortex, where the only boundaries are the edges of the canvas.,
